Mr Hans-Horst Konkolewsky is the President of the International ORP Foundation, based in Barcelona, Spain, committed to promoting the quality of work life and innovation at enterprise level to improve occupational safety, health and well-being.
Following his election in 2005, Mr. Konkolewsky served until early 2019 as Secretary General of the Geneva-based International Social Security Association (ISSA) heading an extensive programme of activities focused on strengthening the governance, performance and service quality of social security administration based on the strategic concept of Dynamic Social Security.
Prior to his election as Secretary General, Mr. Konkolewsky served for ten years as the Director of the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work, a tripartite European Union institution located in Bilbao, Spain.
Mr. Konkolewsky, who is a Danish national, also held several senior positions in the Danish Ministry of Employment and served as Deputy Director General of the Danish Working Environment Authority (Labour Inspection).
Mr. Konkolewsky holds graduate and post-graduate degrees from the University of Aalborg, Denmark, and has been recognized by a number of national international awards, notably for his contributions in the field of social protection and prevention.
